Embracing Growth and Moving Forward
As we near Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to reflect on this journey—the highs and lows—and focus on the blessings that have come my way. There’s so much to be grateful for, even in the struggles, and as I look back on the road that led me here, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come. This time of year feels like the perfect opportunity to pause and give thanks for the people, opportunities, and experiences that have shaped me.
Creative Chelle Studio has been my dream for over a decade, a vision that felt both distant and incredibly close. There were times I doubted myself, felt comfortable as a “worker bee,” and struggled to find my voice. But once I did, I saw how my confidence could inspire others. With faith and perseverance at the core of my journey, I took a leap and began to build my own path, embracing the desire to serve small business owners in a way I had long envisioned.
I wanted to create something unique—something accessible and affordable that would provide small business owners with flexible, creative support. This wasn’t just about business; it was about educating others, showing them that “fast and cheap” isn’t always the best path. I wanted to work with people who recognized the value of building a strong brand and help those who didn’t yet see that value to understand its importance. With Creative Chelle Studio, I could finally bring that vision to life, to help others pursue their dreams while fulfilling my own.
The Challenges No One Talks About
This journey has been far from easy, though. While working a full-time corporate job, I started with a small studio inspired by a photography conference—a leap of faith that felt daunting yet right. Balancing a 9-to-5 and pouring energy into my dream wasn’t easy, but the drive to create something for myself and other small business owners kept me going. When I found a realtor who got me into a space within a month, I knew this was the path for me.
However, not long after, the economy took a hit, and I lost that stable job I had counted on due to the instability and constant change. I was pregnant at the time, and the loss of my job meant that both my finances and my energy were stretched thin. With a baby on the way, the stress of losing my job only intensified, and suddenly, everything felt uncertain. As I was about to give up my studio, my landlord offered me an opportunity for a larger space. It felt like a miracle, a sign to keep pushing forward, so I took another leap, and suddenly, Creative Chelle Studio was bigger than I ever dreamed.
Still, there were constant challenges: finding my niche, refining my focus, and growing a team to support the work. We structured a subscription model to offer the flexibility, creativity, and affordability I always wanted to provide small business owners. Yet life outside the studio didn’t pause. I networked while pregnant, carried my newborn to meetings, and built out the studio—all while juggling the demands of motherhood, marriage, and the financial and physical struggles that came with being pregnant and losing my job. My energy was drained, and finances were tight, but I pushed through because I believed in the vision. There were moments when it felt like everything was hanging by a thread, and I questioned if I had made the right choice. Yet, each challenge reminded me of the resilience I had to tap into, and I kept moving forward.
But through these times, people showed up. Someone would encourage me, remind me I was making a difference, or simply tell me it would get better. I met people dealing with health struggles, financial challenges, and situations eerily similar to mine. Each story reminded me that I wasn’t alone—and that these hurdles often show up just as you’re closest to success.
Finding Strength in Community
One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been building a community of like-minded women. When I started networking, I connected with other driven women who were facing challenges of their own, sometimes even more intense than mine. Among them, I met one woman with a similar vision to mine, and instead of intimidating me, her ability to build her business on a large scale inspired me. It was a reminder that there’s room for all of us to succeed. While others in my industry sometimes seemed to fight for space or view each other as competition, I saw it as an opportunity to learn, grow, and collaborate. Seeing others struggle with family, finances, and health issues made me feel less isolated, and our shared experiences have built strong bonds. These relationships have become a source of strength, and I’ve come to understand that even the most successful businesswomen face hidden obstacles. Through it all, I’ve learned that resilience is often born out of the connections we make with each other.
Building a Business to Support Others
Creative Chelle Studio began as a personal dream but has evolved into a platform for helping others. Our mission now is to empower small businesses to grow through creative strategy, design, marketing, photography, and studio rentals. Every hurdle has only deepened my commitment to making a positive impact. I want to be there for other entrepreneurs, providing the support, education, and resources that I struggled to find when I was starting out. Being part of the community and giving back is now a cornerstone of my mission—and it’s what keeps me moving forward.
The Message of Resilience
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s the importance of resilience. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, to step back, and to breathe. I found strength in those “underwater” moments by slowing down, taking time for myself, and, as difficult as it was, learning to accept help. Letting others in and realizing I didn’t have to do it all alone was a hard but necessary step. With each deep breath, I found clarity, a renewed sense of direction, and the realization that sometimes, the path isn’t what you imagined. It might be a phase, a lesson, or a stepping stone to something greater.
Keep Pushing Forward
To every independent woman in business, to anyone facing uncertainty: don’t give up. Even when you achieve your goals, life may throw you a curveball, but you’ve done it before, and you can do it again. Resilience, faith, and community can carry you through the darkest times. Your journey is worthwhile, and every struggle is part of a bigger story—one of growth, purpose, and achievement.
So keep pushing, keep believing in your dreams, and remember that you are not alone. Together, we’re building something amazing.
